How to Play Baccarat
Playing Baccarat can be an enjoyable experience whether it’s played in a traditional casino or online the rules will always be the same. If playing Baccarat in a Casino, players should be aware that the table is always away from the main tables in the Casino. This gives the game the air of exclusivity but the table is open to all people. Baccarat is also the only game that involves the players dealing the cards; therefore, the casino has to pay particular attention to ensure that all procedures are followed. However, some casinos employs a dealer to ensure professional dealing on a Baccarat table.
At a Baccarat table, there are 15 numbered positions allowing people to stand at one of these points. However, there is only room for 14 people at the table as the number 13 is not allocated to the table due to the nature of bad luck associated with this particular number. The player seated in the number one position will be able to deal first; the deal can be passed on if they don’t want to deal. However, when a player deals they become known as the banker and they will continue dealing until their own hand loses.
The game is played with 6 or 8 decks of shuffled cards and the object of the game is the first player to reach 9 points wins. The 10’s cards and the face cards of Jack, Queen and King are all worth 0. The Ace counts as 1 and all remaining cards are of face value and the suits are irrelevant in Baccarat. If the total is more than 10, the ten is dropped, for example, if an 8 and 9 hand totals 17, the total becomes 7 as the ten has to be dropped as only single digits count.
Two hands are dealt and players will bet on which one will win or tie. Each hand consists of two card going up to a maximum of three cards. If either the banker or the player total 8 or 9 from the dealt cards then this is called a “natural” and they automatically win unless they both have a natural which means a tie. If a natural is not made and depending on the value of each hand, the dealer may instruct the card dealer to deal a third card. There are lots of variations regarding dealing a third card and each casino has their own house rules relating to this.
Bets are placed in squares on the table marked out as Player, Banker or Tie. Bets should be made on the hand that will potentially have the highest value which is 8 or 9. When dealing has been completed the hand with the highest total or count wins. When considering playing Baccarat, the minimum bet accepted at the table should always be checked to avoid disappointment and embarrassment.
